God is using a Honey project in Chan Chen to help bring hope and prosperity to families living in this small Mayan Village. For years the men of Chan Chen have been bee keepers selling their honey at wholesale for every little money. We have come up with an idea to market their honey directly to the tourist coming into the area. This way they can make about ten time as much. We are praying that this project will make a impact in the lives of many as you show the sweet love of Christ. Eat more honey!

Here in Mexico, the Maya people of the Yucatan have practiced beekeeping for thousands of years. We are experimenting with trying to help the Mayan people living in the small village of Chan Chen in selling their honey directly to tourist. This could help many people pray about this project.

We had a great Christmas! We travel to North Carolina, then flew over to Missouri to visit family. It was a quick nine days but we had a great time. Now we are back and excited about what God has for us in 2011. Thank you so much for your prayers and your support. We had a great 2010 we accomplished many of the goals we set. God is doing great things in Playa Del Carmen and in the Mayan zone. We have a group of men from Alabama coming in to work the end of January. We also have a group from Myrtle Beach that will be here to help us in February.

Goals for the New Year:

300 in attendance in the Playa church
15 small groups by 2012
began weekly worship service in Chan Chen.

When Joshua was told to take the promised land there were giants in the land. We know that it will not be easy. I'm sure that we will face problems in 2011 but God is with us and we are already victorious.

I feel under a lot of pressure mostly about the lack of money.. I have so many hurting people here on my team and I am trying to keep this ministry up and going. about a third of our funds come from mission teams coming in but we have not had a team in three months and we have had others canceled for Oct. and Nov. I am praying to God for help.. We now have a little larger ministry and it takes about 8000 a month just to pay the bills we had about half the funds we needed last month.

I think most people would give up but we are a little crazy. If we are going to go out we are going to go out with a bang. We are putting everything we have on the line. We are going to move the church in Playa to a new place. It is going cost us but it is our best chance to reach the people of Playa. We are going forward in Chan Chen as well... We need help but I am not asking people to do any more than I am willing to do.. I am not going to sing "I surrender all" if I am not willing to do it. When I was young this was easier but the older I get I think, who is going to take care of my wife in old age. And God says HE IS....

We are moving to a new location in Playa Del Carmen. Nov. 7th we are going to be making this big step of faith. It is true that this is a weak economy but our GOD IS STRONG! Today as I preached the message it hit me God knows my needs. The older I get the harder it is becoming to put it all on the line for Christ... I think who's going to take care of me if I give it all to Christ and His work. Today God answered me he said I Will. Please pray for the people of Playa Del Carmen and those living in the Mayan villages where we work.

Please pray for Rodolfo.. He is the one who is heading our building project and the one who gave the land for the project. A few people in the village are jealous and they are attacking this young man. We know Rodolfo is not perfect but if God used only the perfect people this Chan Chen Project would have never started. Pray that these people would not hurt Rodolfo or his family and that they will not slow down the project. Pray also that Rodolfo would live life in a way that honors God is all that he does. When you try to do good there is always opposition.

Thank you to all of you who prayed for ladies event today. It was a
joy to see and hear so many women who longed to grow in their faith.

Cherylyn was a beautiful lady who came needing a special touch from
God. She is a ministering leader in an English speaking church in
Cancun. Through a broken heart, she shared how there were power
struggles in the church. They were trying to work through them, but
their hearts were heavy. We prayed for the church and prayed for the
leadership of the church.

Cherylyn represents one of about thirty women who came today to hear a
word from God. God spoke through Liam, a Spanish-speaking friend from
the church at Playa as she sang. Our team gave testimonies and we
even had an artistic team member paint to the “Resurrection Song.”
The messages were well received as a each lady were challenged to live
out their walks with Jesus and lead others to relationship with Him.
Each lady went home filled with delicious food and a gift bag filled
with goodies in addition to a fresh word from God.

Please continue to lift up this team as tomorrow will be worshiping
with two churches here in Mexico.

It has been an exciting time in the small Mayan village of Chan Chen. Yes, we still have a long way to go but now we are beginning to see real progress. This is what we hope to see by the fall of this year, 20 High School students enrolled in our training program. This program will take students in their last two years of High School and teach them conversational English and skills

needed to work in tourism. It is our hope that at least half of these student would want to continue on to college in Playa where we will continue to work with them through the ministries of our church in Playa. The long term dream is that many of theses college graduates would return to their villages as missionaries to help educate and evangelize the next generation . We need your prayers, we are still so far from the finish line it would be easy to give up. Pray that the funds would come in and that God would start working now in the hearts of these future missionaries.

We have 10 goals for year "10"

1. Finish the first stage of the building in Chan Chen and open the hotel worker's training center to volunteers by Dec.

2. Find a location for our church in Playa that we can use seven days a week as needed.

3. Grow the leadership team on the Spanish side of the church in Playa.

4. Open the institute to train hotel workers in Chan Chen by Fall 2010

5. Start doing a weekly Bible studies in Chan Chen that will leave to a new church in Chan Chen

6. Recruit 45+ new short term volunteer teams for 2011 to work in Chan Chen

7. Start a men's ministry in Playa that will reach out to young professionals

8. Continue to grow the Fellowship of the Riviera Maya Church in numbers and in faith.

We plan to have a regular attendance of 250+ at our weekend services by Dec 2010

9. Send out mission teams from our church in Playa to serve in Chan Chen, U.S. and Cuba.

10. Continue to build our online prayers support team... We are looking for 2010 more prayer partners in 2010..

We have over 275 people come out to our Thanksgiving Dinner in Paamul. We had people for literally all going the world at this event. For some it was the first time they had ever celebrated Thanksgiving and for the Canadians who live in Paamul they celebrated it twin this year, Canada's Thanksgiving Day is in Oct.. We had a mission team of six adults from Rabbit Creek Community Church in Alaska come down to here us with this event and they did a great Job. Darla did a lot of the cooking and most of the organizing. It was great time! 14 Turkeys and 3 hams and a room full of desserts we have so much to be Thankful for.

The Doctors saw about 100 people it was an experience that no one on the team will soon forget. They leave today to go home. We handed out about $50,000 worth of Medicine this week. Please pray for the people of Hondzonot. I am planning to be back out there on Sat. I am going to try to buy a wheelchair for the little boy that is photo above. He has never been about to walk but he seems to have a great spirit.

We are going to start this weekend a new 5 week study, I am calling "from the Heart of Fellowship Church." We are going to anwser the question why is Fellowship here and what are we hoping to see happen. We start tomorrow by talking about what does it look like to be a mature follower of Jesus Christ in Playa Del Carmen Mexico in 2009. Pray that God would feel our building tomorrow with people are really to hear from the heart of God.

Sept. 27 – Spiritually Mature
What does it look like anyway?
Most of the time we operate with a flawed understanding of what it looks like to be spiritually mature. This faulty definition has caused many churches to actually get in the way of those interested in a relationship with God. So what does it look like to spiritually mature? And how do you get there? In this session we'll discuss how you can partner with Fellowship church to move in the right direction and bring others along with you. When you think about spiritual maturity, what comes to mind? Read Matthew 22:37-39.

Oct, 4 – Attracting the Non-religious
As you read through the accounts of Jesus' life you can't escape this simple but often overlooked question, Why would Jesus spend so much time with people who were clearly not God-fearing to the neglect of those who considered themselves more religious? As we explore Luke 15 to find the answer to this question, we'll uncover the driving force behind our church's past, present and future direction.

Oct. 11 – The Most Important Question. Who is Jesus?
Those who resist Christianity often do so because they have many unanswered questions. But when considering Christianity there is one question that trumps all the others. It doesn't answer the others, but it does put them into perspective. In this session we'll discuss how an influential man was transformed by this very question. Acts 9:1-22.

People love to make predictions about the future—but all too often, those predictions are wrong! Why base our lives on predictions when God has promised us that we can really change? In Matthew 13, we find Jesus speaking to the crowds in a parable, as he often did. The people in the crowd were there for a variety of reasons—some to see what the fuss was about, others to see a show, and still others to listen—and to hear what the Master would say. Through this parable about seeds and soil, Jesus was really talking about all of us. And what he wants us to know is that personal growth is not only possible, it is expected. It’s something God wants to produce in our lives. Personal growth comes to those who have learned to listen. In this lesson, we’ll explore the three things that stop us from listening and three things that invite us to listen, as we look at Jesus’ explanation of this parable from Mark 4.

Oct 25 - Our mission in the world.

We will look the mission God had given Fellowship Church and who we plan to carry out that mission.
God did not create us just to live for yourself. He wants you to care about the hurting people in your life. He wants you to make a difference with your life. He put you on this planet to make a contribution. You were planned for God’s pleasure. You were formed for God’s family. You were created to be like Christ. You were shaped to serve God. And you were made for a mission.

Last Monday on my way back from checking on our work in village of Chan Chan I did something I rarely do and would not recommend as a way of church out reach, I picked up a group of men who were hitchhiking. The good news is they did not kill me and all seven of them came to church this morning that is a God thing. Pray for these men and their families I am going to meet with them and their families tomorrow morning out in the village of Antonio on my way to Chan Chen.

Out in Chan Chen Today

I was out in Chan Chen today.... The project is going well the money is coming in slow so the work is slow but somehow we are keeping the project going and that is a praise the Lord.

On the way back home today I picked up two hitch hikers I was able to talk to them about the Lord and about our church in Playa. They say they are going to be at church Sunday. Many people in our area seem to be really looking for help but not just a handout, real help. It is a different season here in Playa, people have always been superficially open but now many are really seeking help.

Pray for our church in Playa and our work in the Mayan Zone. So few English speakers are here at this time of year so we are not planing to start meeting again in Paamul until Nov. 1st.

We are going to be meeting Paamul at 8:30am and in Playa at 10:15am. Pray that God would being people to each of these worship services. We are also doing a food drive. We had a great day today playing with the kids in Chan Chen. We have now built many friendships in this small Mayan village about 2 hours east of Playa Del Carmen. Today we saw about 400 children come to a kids program.... It was a little crazy at times but in the end the kids understood that we love them and the God also loves them.

I am learning a lot about Canadian geography this week. Today our first mission team from Canada arrived. We are exicited about the week to come. Pray for this team as we are going to be working out in the Mayan Village of Chan Chen.

Great day of worship Sunday

We had a great time in all three services Sunday. We preach on the " You are light of the World" We handed out small flashlight to everyone and did a modern day candlelight service. It was a lot of fun and I am sure we will remember this one.

We are expecting to have about 30 adults at a meeting tonight to talk and make plans to reach our community for Christ. Many of these people are new believers we are excited about what God is going to do this Fall.

People need the Lord that is the bottom line. Sometimes we that have been Christains for a while forget what it is like to live without hope to really be lost. Telling others about the Good News of Jesus Christ, is this our purpose for living as Christians? Yes. Why then do so few Christians share their faith? Why are we not fishing? I guess we could find many excuses but one of the reasons is we Christian do not like to think about what it really means to be lost, separated from the love of God. We see very little difference in the church people and the people of the world. We think oh it would be nice if my friend or family member would come to Christ. They would be a little better off. Maybe their marriage would be a little better, maybe they would not drink as much and with a miracle they could quit smoking… Yes, we think they would be a little better off with Christ in thier life but it’s not worth the risk of rejection…. I don’t want to offend anyone… Have you ever been to a funeral of a lost person someone you love who you knew did not believe in Christ. We say things, “like they look so peaceful” but they are not in a place of peace they are in Hell, yes Hell… Did you know that Jesus talked more about hell than he did about heaven or love. Hell is a reality…. Have you ever burned your finger? Thing about how painful that was, nothing compared to the pain of Hell. This life is short. If something does not change, if someone does not start fishing, 95% of the people living here in Playa del Carmen will spend eternality in hell, your friends your neighbors your family members. This should break your heart…. One day Christ will return, will be fishing. This morning I am crying out to God for the 300,000 people living in our city who are lost an with hope.. Will you join me in Prayer?-

God is moving on the Spanish Side of our Church in Playa. We had 26 make decisions for Christ today in the Service. Nine of these were first time visitors to our church. They all are saying they want to be more active in sharing God's love with the lost in this area. This is a lot of fun! 26 people in love with Jesus....

We are back at it and it is HOT HOT HOT,,,We need your prayers today. I am going out to the Mayan village of Chan Chen this morning with Pastor Mark Goodman from Alaska... He and his wife are here on a family mission trip.We are looking forward to our Weekend Celebration as the church comes together.

After five weeks of volunteer mission teams we are taking a short vacation in the States. Next Monday will be Darla's birthday so we plan to be with her Mom in Puxico Mo. Our son Brandon is going to be coming over from Dallas so this is going to be a good time with family.

When you don't have Power you can't get a Mexican Visa

Today we when to pickup our FM2 visa. Living in Mexico for 13 years now this has just become part of our life, it's what we do every July. We have tickets to go to the States on Tuesday and the imagination office said that our papers would be ready today. We need this visa to leave the country. We went in first thing this morning and the office did not have electricity.. NO POWER NO VISA. Well we need you prayers that Monday we can get the needed papers to leave the country.

The Alaska youth are leaving today and we have a very busy weekend coming up.

Looking forward to a trip to the States

We are planing on going to visit our family in the States on the 14th of July. We are getting our Mexican visas renewed this week so pray it all comes through on time for us to make the trip.

Debbie Hill is home now at their house in Playa. She is going to have a few months of rehabilitation with the knee but she seems to be in great spirits.

The group of students are still out in Chan Chen they are coming out tomorrow. Yesterday morning it was 95 degrees in the house where the are staying. This is extreme heat for kids from Alaska....

Start praying now for a movement of God in Playa. Starting August 16th we are going to launch a city wide campaign "OPCs PARA CRISTO" Christ has called us to be fishers of Men.

OPC is a timeshare term that means "outside personal contact".... We are praying that we will enlist at least 25 OPCs to work for our church leading people to Christ.

God hears your prayers so please pray.
