Block Party BIG Success!

We had a great turnout at the block party tonight.... We only handed out 75 invitations and we had over 200 people come out to the Block Party. It was billed as a great time to meet your neighbors. Everyone had a great time, many are saying they want to come and be part of this kind of church.

Volunteer team from Rabbit Creek A great day!

The team from Rabbit Creek painted a pastor's house in Playa this morning and this afternoon they handed out fliers to invite folks to a block party tomorrow night.

The bunnies grow large in Rabbit Creek, Alaska. The team is building a lot of excitement in a middle class neighborhood in Playa for tomorrow's block party. Pray for this event tomorrow night at 6:30pm our time. We are going to be serving tamales and playing games with the kids. We are promoting this as an event to meet your neighbors in the new middle class neighbor. We hope to have many of our church people there informally talking about our church and inviting them to visit. Pray Pray pray!

Praying for Jose and his family

We have been praying for the guys who are building our house for a while now. Yesterday the construction boss who had heard about our medical clinic asked me if I could help one of his workers. Of course we were ready to help in any way we could. The young man, Jose, has a 9 month old baby who has been sick for a while. We were able to get the baby to our free clinic yesterday, God used Dr. Danny in a great way in the life of this young family. Jose has not come to Christ yet but now he is wanting to hear more....

Please pray for Jose and all the worker over at our house site.

We have a lot going on this week. Thanks for praying.

Fifth rainbow in Two Weeks

This is the fifth rainbow over our new mission house in the last two weeks. Darla bought that movie "Evan Almighty" while in the States. It's about the guy who builds and Ark in D.C. Our neighbours are saying our house looks like Noah's ark. Now with the rainbows I'm starting to look for the animals. The house is coming along great it is taking a little more of my time than I had anticipated but I am making it part of our ministry. I am sharing sermons everyday with the guys who are working on the house. Today of course we talked a lot about Noah. These workers seem to know many of the bible stories but they do not believe it has much relevance in their daily lives. They pretty much are in a survival mode... Working six days a week and the time they have off they are too tried to do any thing but drink beer and watch football on TV.

I guess it's not that much different than working men up north. Toby Keith has a new song that goes like this, “Yeah, the big boss man he likes to crack that whip. I ain’t nothing but a number on his time card slip. I give him forty hours and a piece of my soul and he puts me at the bottom of his totem pole. I don’t even think he knows my name. My baby cuts hair at the beauty boutique just blowing and going till she’s dead on her feet. They walk right in and they set right down. She gives them what they want and then she spins them around. I don’t even think they know her name. All week long I'm a real nobody but I just punched out and it’s paycheck Friday. The weekend’s here. Good God almighty I'm going to get drunk and be somebody. We’re just average people in an everyday bar driving from work in our ordinary car. But I like to come here with the regular Joes, drink all you want and be the star of the show.”

Pray for these men who are building our house... They need hope...

The two lead guys are Fred and Dino. I know it sounds like the Flintstones.

Looking for Land.

I have had a dream for a few years now that I could buy land and build a small hotel to house volunteers and reach out to locals as we teach English and other stills needed to work with tourist. As I began to dream about this idea the vision grew and the land prices in this area skyrocketed. Although my vision for this ministry is large and multifaceted we can start really simple by buying a land and building a house to house volunteers.

I need your prayers as we have a good lead on a land that would work to reach many for Christ.
There is a local resident who is selling about 240 acres of land South of Paamul in the Jungle.

His asking price is $110,000. The seller is not able or willing to sell part of the land so we believe we can find a buyer for half the land. 120 acres would be enough land for the future growth and the BIG VISION.

This land is near a small Maya village. It is about 9 miles from the highway. The land would be great and I believe we could start by building a camp and or a small hotel. In the future we could make this a tourist attraction.....

The Goal of the ministry would be reaching and training future hotel workers. This would be a large part of impacting this area for Christ.

PLEASE PRAY: We need money to get this vision off the ground.

The future BIG VISION ........

We already have the rainbow.......

Darla arrives back in Mexico today

We have had 10 days of rain here in Paamul. I am hoping that Darla will bring some sunshine back with her. She had a great visit with the Kid's and her Mom.. The report in the States is, that all is well. Brittany is doing really well in school this semester. She says she is making all A's so far. Brandon and Amy are doing great in Dallas. Amy now has a teaching job and Brandon is still working as a accountant with Grant Thornton. Darla's mom is also doing well in Puxico Mo.

Our prayer needs this week:

I am still looking for land to build a small hotel, mission training and outreach center. Land cost in this part of the world are out of sight for the most part but this week I have a lead on a land that might work. Pray for God's leadership in this matter. Pray that we will have the support we need to make this vision happen.

Continue to pray for the workers building our house.

Pray that we will find God's answer to our need for a great communicator in our Spanish speaking service. Using video might be the answer.

Pray for the new believers in the Paamul church

Pray for our Weekend Services

I am preaching in English and Spanish in Paamul. Preaching in English is like breathing it comes natural for me. Spanish on the other hand is like walking on water every weekend. We are seeing lives changed for eternity in both services. Last week we had about 20 people go through the 101 class and join the church. We are planing to baptize many of them next week. We do need to stop and praise God for these miracles and we are thankful that we are seeing God at work but so many more are still living without hope in this part of Mexico. If we are going to really see a great movement of God something will need to change. Most pastors and missionaries may say 20 new members that is a movement but when I see 200,000 living in our city, who see the church as irrelevant it breaks my heart because at the rate we are growing many will never hear.

Sooo the million dollar question is what do you do to impact this area for and see a real movement of God?

I could give you a long list of things we have tried that have produce some fruit but never gained the momentum needed to impact our city. Maybe it has been a lack of faith, or the wrong timing I don't know.... but one biblical principal I have learned and am already relearning is found in John 15:5 He who abide in Me and I in him, bears much fruit; without Me you can do nothing.

We need your prayers as we go forward. I have a dream that we will see a movement of God in this part of Mexico. Pray that we will always seek to know God and that we will abide in HIM.

Update on the mission house

Please keep praying for the workers who are building our home. I am practicing my Spanish sermon on them everyday. Maybe that is the key paid guys to listen.

Another Rainbow over our house

Not sure what God is trying to say to me but we have another rainbow over our new mission house today. The Rainbow in the bible was a sign of God's mercy and a reminder of His covenant.

This coming Sunday we have about 20 adults signed up to take our 101 membership class in Spanish. This is our first group to take the 101 in Spanish at the Paamul campus. It will also be the first time I have taught the class in Spanish. Pray for these new believers..... That God would give them wisdom and understanding....

'Small group in Spanish

We had a great night of worship and fun at small group tonight. Our small group was not that small tonight we had 19 adults and about 10 kids. We had a great time of worship and study. We are planing to do our first 101 membership class this Sunday please pray for this class. I am going to be teaching this class in Spanish. The people keep saying they love my sermons in Spanish. It hard for me not because the people don't understand my Spanish but there is just so much more I would like to say but I just don't have the words.
